Q. What specific details stay in your mind? why? how do these small details lead to larger ideas?
A. Mary Oliver's poem is full of different details that tie into her poem. "Who made the world? who mad the grasshopper? and I dont know xactly what a prayer is" these specific details in the poem really stood out to me. The reason is because they are such impactful questions in the poem, that require attention. the small details she gives helps us to understand the more broad aspects of the poem. because the small details help the reader see the main meaning more clearly. Its key to pay attention and understand the small details because in the long run it'll help you comprehend the larger ideas

Walter, I thought you brought up some very good points in this post. I think that you are correct when you say it is key to pay attention and understand the small details because in the long run it'll help. Like you said, it definitely helps to know the larger ideas. Sometimes in poems the larger idea may not be given straight up in the poem. This idea of finding the small details really helps to find the large ideas.
